Last night’s Varsity Spring League was another action pack night with close games and great performances leading up to next week’s finale. In the consolation game, Norwood hopped out to an early lead and were able to withstand Holliston’s late run to hold on for a 3 point (44-41) win. In the first semi-final matchup, Franklin continued their season long dominance remaining unbeaten and securing a 13 point win against Hockomock rival Foxboro (50-37). The second semi-final game of the night saw an exciting back and forth game between the evenly matched Needham Rockets and Westwood Wolverines. With under a minute to go in a tied ballgame, Westwood’s Tim Giovino make a great steal off of a Needham inbound pass which led to the go ahead layup for the Wolverines to finally knock off the 2-time defending League Champion Needham Rockets. Next week Franklin will take on Westwood for the championship!
