The 2016 Varsity Spring League ended on a high note Wednesday night with a terrific matchup between Franklin and Westwood. Franklin had been dominant throughout the season, going undefeated with many of those victories being blow-outs. Westwood had also come into the game after a strong season, finishing in 3rd place with their only losses coming against the top 2 seeds (Needham by 4 points and Franklin by 2 points).
The Championship clash between these 2 strong teams did not disappoint, with a very exciting back and forth game. Westwood captured a small lead with under a minute to go before Franklin tied it with only seconds left in regulation. This set up the game winning 3 from Westwood Sophomore Reed Wilson as time expired (his 5th made 3-pointer of the night) to give Westwood the Varsity League Championship Title with the 50-47 win over a highly talented Franklin squad. Wilson’s clutch shooting and team high 17 points earned him Championship MVP.
