This past weekend our 16U NESB – Douglass team had a very successful run in the first portion of Massachusetts State Tournament as Mass Premier in Foxboro, MA. The first game saw a double overtime 4 point victory over Berkshire Elite, which was possible after a game tying 3 pointer by Monte Campbell 2.8 seconds left and some clutch free throws by James Hanlon. After a great back and forth effort, the 2nd game ended in a 1 point overtime loss to the Silver City Sharks. That effort from the first 2 games, led to earning a bye in bracket play and only needing 1 more victory to advance to the final four.
With a spot in the final four or elimination on the line, NESB was led by top scorer Matt McKay on route to a 76 to 70 win over the SNEBC Shockers to advance to the final four. Although a true team effort with every player on the team contributing, some other top NESB performers from the tournament included Nick Anderson, Kevin Baker, and Chauncey Palmer.
Now the focus moves on to continuing this great run and finishing off the state tournament with two more victories. NESB's Final Four matchup vs. MPC Sarro will take place on Sunday May 31st at 9:40am on Mass Premier Court 3.
